- For 6 weeks you will have to blend or cut up all your food.

 

- If you try to eat food that has to be swalled in one lump there is a risk that it might get stuck.

 

- Take small bites and chew all your food well.

 

- Eat small more frequent meals per day.

 

- Choose soft and moist food that digests easier.

 

- Avoid fizzy drinks as burping might be difficult for a while after surgery.

 

- Avoid alcohol, caffeine, tomato, citrus as these foods can also cause stomach discomfort.

 

- Only take 1/2 cup of fluid with meals.

 

- Drink 6-8 cups of water a day but sip it slowly to avoid nausea.

 

- Reduce food with high sugar content as this can cause cramping and pain.

 

- Avoid food with high fat content.

 

- Don't drink through a straw,chew gum or chew tabacco as you might swallow air and this will increase gas in your stomach.
