- Keep a food record. This helps you identify patterns that indicate problem foods.

 

- Follow a low residue diet

 

- Avoid food that increses stool output eg. fresh fruits and vegetables, prunes, caffeine

 

- Decrease concentrated sweets eg. candy, soda, juices. This will help decrease the amount of water pulled into your intestine

 

- Decrease alcohol consumption

 

- Incorportae fish like salmon, mackeral, hering and sardines.

 

- Eat smaller more frequent meals

 

- If you have strictures avoid nuts, seeds, beans and kernels

 

- If you have lactose intolerance follow a lactose free diet as this can cause gas, bloating, cramping and diarrohea.

 

- If you have oily, foul smelling stool you might have fat malabsorption. A low-fat diet will help.

 

- Consider taking supplements if you appetite is decreased and solid food not tolerated well.
