Constipation means that you are not passing stool regularly, or that it is difficult for you to empty your bowel completely.

 

Causes:

- Not eating enough fibre including fruits and vegetables

- Not taking enough water/fluids

- Changing your eating habits

- Ignoring the urge to pass stool (fear of public toilets)

- Side effects of medication

- Emotional stress

 

Treatment:

You can treat constipation by simply changing your lifestyle and eating habits.

Be more active; drink more water; eat more fruit and vegetables.

 

If this is not effective, please see your doctor to prescribe you medication.
