Swollen, enlarged veins. The can also be lumpy in appearance. Most often found on your legs. It can be accompanied with swollen legs and pain.

 

Causes and risk factors:

- Pregnancy

- Obesity

- Old age

- Women tend to be more affected than men

- Standing for many hours on end

- Inactive lifestyle

 

Treatment:

Most varicose veins do not require any treatment.

There are several other options including:

- Sclerotherapy – this can be done in the rooms and are not very invasive

- Endothermal ablation – where heat is used to seal the affected veins

- Phlebectomy – surgery to remove the vein

- Compression stockings – improve circulation in the leg
