Appendicitis is a painful infection of a small pouch, connected to the beginning of the large intestine.
Appendicitis is known to present more to the right, lower side of your abdomen. It can start of as a mild pain that comes and goes, but usually becomes constant and more severe.
It can be accompanied with nausea, loss of appetite and fever.
If you experience abdominal pain that worsens, seek medical attention.
Treatment:
In most cases, your appendix will be surgically removed via one of two methods
- Laparoscopy – keyhole surgery
- Open procedure - a small cut is made over the appendix area
You will also receive antibiotics, and pain medication.
